Today is my four class day. I have Criminal Law, Legal Traditions, Civil Procedure, Lunch, then Torts. This is really as fun as it sounds.
I like all of my professors, but more in the respect that I would like to hang out with them at a party rather than learn from them. I love grumpy old men, and law school is full of grumpy old men who use Harry Potter references and accuse people of loving Fox News. I think all of them are hilarious on a daily basis. In fact, I could dedicate my entire favorite quotes section of my facebook profile to them.
Let’s see, there have been several occasions when Bockrath has grumpily looked out at us and monotonously said, “Now try to go back a few weeks ago, when you could still think like a normal person.” And when Church sassily told one guy, “You can think that and disagree with me, but I’ll hate you.” And there was the time that Diamond soulfully serenaded us with “Actions are Louder Than Words” to illustrate actus reus. And frankly I love Devlin because he’s charismatic and mean: everything I want to be. Even when he’s being mean to me, I hope to be able to undermine someone’s whole being so tactfully someday. Maybe the secret to this is tenure.
I love law school because I have six fine examples of how to get people to like you and resent you at the same time. They’re a little sadistic, but hey, so am I. I told someone a few weeks ago that I couldn’t wait until finals because I wanted to see someone have a genuine breakdown in the library. It would personally give me the pep I’ll need for finals.
